Marketing Your Spa During the Pandemic

It goes without saying that this year has not exactly been a banner year for the spa industry. We were definitely on track and we caught one out of left field that nobody saw coming. Yes, COVID-19. It did more than just slow us down, it put many of our contemporaries out of business, hopefully just temporarily. Although it may seem like there is not much to do while we still wait for case numbers to decline enough for us to reopen fully, this may be the time you needed that you “never had” to really get a wrangle on your marketing strategy going into Christmas Season and the New Year.

So what can you do?

1.) Plan

That’s right. It’s time you officially put together a plan. Things that worked in the past, may not be relevant in the current climate. One thing that is for sure if you don’t have an actual strategy to follow or commit to, you won’t execute.

2.) Document Vs. Create

This is an interesting concept and will require a bit of vulnerability. Why not document this journey. Pick up an effective vlogging camera like your cell phone or like the Sony ZV-1 and hit record. Start telling your story, what your year was like, what you are doing now. Share the ups and downs because we all know it’s not perfect. Pretending that it is can have the opposite effect to grow an audience. In the tumultuous political environment, a little piece of transparency in your audience’s day may just be the little escape they have needed. Don’t worry, if you’re not an “on camera” type of person, find the mode of communication that works for you. Writing, audio, etc. Maybe you start a podcast, (which I would highly recommend video recording to post on YouTube, to create as many streams of viewership as possible.) Or a blog that acts like a personal journal for your audience to be a part of. You need to do what works for you.

3.) Be Consistent

The single greatest factor from successful content campaigns and social media accounts with large audiences is consistency. This is where having a plan dramatically increases your ability to be consistent AND following the document vs create helps keep the flow of content going. Instead of trying to create a post or the perfect article, you are just documenting what is happening, along with the plan you have outlined and distributing through your available social channels.

This is a quick bird’s eye view of the subject. If you have any specific questions or want some content ideas, please DM us on any of our social channels and our content team will be happy to share any ideas or answer any questions!
