What are exosomes?

- Small vesicle-like structures, composed of a lipid bilayer, which form inside cells.

- Its size ranges from 40 to 160 nm.

- They include different biomolecules, such as DNA, RNA, proteins, carbohydrates and lipids.

- They are responsible for transporting materials and communicating between cells.

How are they formed and what function do they have?

The cell introduces biomolecules and other compounds into the interior of vesicles, which will then be expelled into the outer cellular environment in the form of exosomes.

They act as:

1. Intercellular transmitters between neighboring cells.

2. Modulators of essential cellular processes, such as proliferation, differentiation, migration, and cell death.
